After watching the Keynote and release of the iPhone 7, 7 Plus and taking time to read the reviews from users, these are some of the key features and known issues to look at before buying the new iPhone.
The best feature of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus is the Camera! This has been the main focus of the new iPhone and they have taken it to the next level with:
Both 7 and 7Plus:
Using a six element lens, auto focus and pixel focus, the iPhone camera’s are now bought up to speed with some of the best camera’s out there. Brighter sharper images than ever before.
They deliver a sharper image further away and use the Optical Stabilisation to stabilise movement when you are taking photo’s of a moving image or are moving yourself. (if your like me it will help with shaky hands when taking a photo).
When the iPhone takes a photo now it uses filters like noise reduction, improved local tone mapping (better portrait photos), exposure control and auto HDR to name a few that most editing apps have when editing your photo, to take the photo and deliver the best result without editing.
Improving the live photo’s function, face time, panoramic photos, and selfies, delivering amazing photo’s on the spot.
Video HD quality like never before you can now take more beautiful video’s with clearer and brighter images.
Add the new IOS 10 with its great features and you now have an amazing all in one mobile device that delivers exceptional power. There may be a few glitches but as all new products release there are teething problems that are rectified as they go along.
I look forward to getting my iPhone 7 Plus, as a photographer it will be the ultimate accessory for my on the go photo’s that will now have more depth and colour than ever seen in a mobile device (for the moment as technology is ever growing).
I may wait a few months till the current issues have been ironed out but if you are an Apple Fan you may not be able to wait it out so enjoy your new iPhone! And remember Apple Care is your best friend.
These days everyone including me, get’s annoyed at the update button and clicks not now, continue’s to ignore or you just forget over time. Before you know it you have forgotten the update for software on your PC, Mac, Tablet or Mobile device.
Today I’m going to go through a few Tips to explain why and when we need to update our software. To better understand when it is critical to click that update and sometimes its better left till a later time.
Starting with Operating System Updates – these updates are here to update security, fix glitches and add new features to our PC, Mac, Tablet and Mobile device. These update’s although rather annoying they need to be updated as you go because they are there to help maintain and improve your computer experience.
Tip – One of the main things in these updates is security improvements. These days with the ever-growing Cyber Hacking and Security risks out there, we should be updating as soon as it comes through to keep our computer’s security up to date and fight back against those who are out to hack us.
So whether you own a PC, Mac, Tablet and/or Mobile device, when an update comes in for your operating system we should first –
New Operating System – Windows 10, Mac OS Sierra, IOS 10 and Android 6 Marshmallow are all fairly new operating systems. When a new one comes along sometimes it is good to wait just few updates before going ahead with the new one to give the developer’s time to iron out all the glitches.
They first release beta versions to other developers and employees to fine tune before release then the public get a go so that within a few updates they have a fine tuned operating system. You may be like me and cannot wait so you update and work through the teething problems till the operating system is running smoothly.
Tip – Always backup before updating to a new operating system in case you may need to restore from backup if something goes wrong. Remember once you have updated, in most cases you cannot go backwards without hassle or error so do some research and see what people are saying about the new versions first. Contact us if you need support
Application Software Updates – These are usually for improvements and to fix any glitches found in the application and are regular updates. Now these are not as important and you can wait to update at a later time. Still they are there to improve your experience with the App/Program and sometimes they are updates to make the software compatible with the ever-changing technology around us. For example Adobe Flash player is there to help improve the audio/video playback for your internet browsing and gaming experience. Video’s may not work without the latest update. So take a moment to read what the update is for and make your decision if it is important or can wait.
Tip – Be aware Adobe has been a window to hackers for years so sometimes moving to Google Chrome or Firefox browsers which have imbedded extensions can be a more secure way to improve your internet experience.
Office Updates – Are also a regular occurrence, as above they are there to improve on the program and are there to enhance your experience. You can update at any time but don’t leave it too long as you may be missing out on some great new features.
Tip – I know that sometimes the changes are drastic and can be confusing to the best of us but the updates can be there to make sure it is compatible with your current operating system so sometimes we have to update for compatibility.
Lastly we have Driver Updates – Mostly they come through within your operating system updates. Drivers are apart of updating your computer so it is compatible with all your hardware and external devices. They can also be in the form of a CD when purchasing a new product to use with your device like a printer, wireless adapter, a gaming graphics card and for Camera’s to read and import those important photo’s. These updates are needed for the device to be compatible and run with your operating system so they must be updated straight away.
Tip – Beware of driver update programs that come up when you are searching the internet for the driver or they pop up as adware when you are browsing. These are usually annoying, slow the computer down and sometimes are spyware which puts your computer at risk. Always use the CD or go to the direct website for your driver.
Tip – When downloading your program/driver, read all terms and check for any add on’s at the bottom of the terms and conditions before you click next. Untick any additional programs that may be ticked to download with your program or driver. Nothing is for free and sometimes websites add additional programs or browser extensions to the download that you do not need and could be full of adware/spyware.
Well that is it for software updates so happy updating everyone.
These days our iPhone is used as a multi device not just for calling and texting like the good old days.
Taking photo’s is the next main thing we use our iPhones for. So here are some helpful tips for taking great photos with your iPhone for those “on the go photo’s”, so you can edit and upload from where ever you are!
On opening the camera app on your iPhone it displays the view finder and a few settings on the side starting with :
Now down the bottom of the screen we have a few other functions that make our iPhone so easy to use.
So that is about it now it’s up to you to find the best angles and use all the functions that the iPhone has to offer, happy photo taking!
The apparently government-sponsored hackery aimed at activist Ahmed Mansoor last week prompted a quick response from Apple, with a patch for iOS arriving the day of the news. Turns out the three (!) zero-day exploits deployed against Mansoor kind of worked against Safari and OS X as… http://www.lastoneminute.com/apple-patches-zero-day-vulnerabilities-in-safari-and-os-x/

These days we always have our mobile handy to take photos where ever we are and with the ever-growing demand to edit and post our photos as we take them grows, Snapseed makes it easy on your mobile device. It is just a download away in your Apple or Andriod App Store and well worth it.
I find that this App does the job and is not too complicated to deliver a photo that speaks a thousand words.
Snapseed created by Nik Software is a Photo App compatible with both IOS and Android that has some great features to edit your photos and post on the go.
Whether it may be just a touch up or you really want your photo to pop, Snapseed has the basic tools to do so.
Snapseed has an allotment of filters to alter your photo either by enhancing, using Black and White, Frames, Retro looks ect. All are easy to use by selecting then using the bottom of the page to move through the different looks till you get the artistic or dramatic look that you’re looking for.
These are just some of the fantastic filters you can use that I like but there is also so much more. Lens blur, Tonal Contrast, Grainy film, Retrolux, Noir, Vintage, Grundge and Frames.
You are able to constantly check between your original image and the edited one. You can return at any time to the original image. Save a duplicate so that the original stays untouched and now you can add text to your images.
Google has a help page Snapseed Help

A new Bloomberg report says that the new range of MacBook Pro models will have a smaller footprint than existing models, and will be thinner but not adopt the wedge shape of the MacBook Air and 12-inch MacBook. The trackpad is also slightly wider than current models.
Expect a solid aluminium design, with the 13-inch MacBook Pro 2017 weighing 3.02 pounds (1.37kg), and with a thinness of 0.59-inches (1.49cm) when closed.
It’s a beautifully thin and light design, and we’re glad that wasn’t compromised due to the more powerful components in this year’s model.
